Who We Are

Newfoundland and Labrador has one of the oldest populations in Canada — and the need for compassionate, reliable senior care is growing every day. Many seniors want to remain in their own homes, but face challenges without the right support. 

We are Jenn Deon & Yuliia Shvydun, and we created Sunflower to help meet this growing need — with heart-centered, high quality, holistic care that respects both clients and workers and helps families feel at ease.

Together we bring years of hands-on experience caring for seniors — both in homes and facilities.

​We know what it takes to transform a home into a peaceful haven where individuals and couples can live happily with dignity and love, supported by a team of respected workers who love what they do and are fairly compensated for their work.

Together, we combine professional care with deep personal understanding. Sunflower Care Services is built on trust, compassion, and the belief that every person - workers and clients - deserve to be treated with respect.

Jenn has broad professional and advocacy experience across many aspects of health and senior care.

Jenn has worked as a professional communicator with the St. John's Nursing Home Board, Eastern Health, and the School of Pharmacy.

As an adult child of aging parents, she has navigated systems such as the Miller Centre's stroke and injury recovery unit; both public and private retirement and long-term care facilities; Eastern Health's home support subsidy program utilizing both agency and self-managed care options; Dept. of Veteran's Affairs disability support division; both public and private primary health care providers; palliative care; funeral services; and estate administration.

​Jenn is committed to helping individuals and families navigate the challenges of aging with grace and agency.

With experience in both long-term care facilities and private homes, Yuliia has witnessed firsthand the gaps in fairness, working conditions, and quality of care.

These experiences inspired her to build an agency that raises the standard — ensuring caregivers are respected and supported, while clients receive the dignified, professional care they deserve.

​Guided by compassion, resilience, and a deep sense of responsibility, Yuliia is committed to creating lasting change in home support across Newfoundland and Labrador.

Certifications include: Standard First Aid; CPR/AED Level C - Canadian Red Cross; Dementia Learning Passport Level 4; Gentle Persuasive Approaches in Dementia Care; Infection Control and Prevention; and WHMIS.
